23 Months

23 months

After this month we stop counting in months and start counting in years.  Part of me feels as though it was just yesterday that I was holding Grace for the first time in the hospital with tears in my eyes at the awesomeness of her.  Then another part of me feels like Grace has always been a part of our lives.  In essence she has always been in God's plans for us, we just didn't know it until 23 months ago.

Grace is on the go and wears us out at times.  Her love for the outdoors continues.  She LOVES to swim at Miss Nancy's with the other kids in the kiddie pool.  Then as soon as she gets home she wants to go outside again and play until dinner.  This month since Grandma Dickmeyer has been taking care of Charlie in Chicago on Fridays Grace has been staying  at Miss Nancy's an extra day a week and she has enjoyed getting to hang out with her friends a little extra.  Today is Grace's last day at Miss Nancy's for the school year.  Miss Nancy is taking a well-deserved vacation to Florida. We'll see you in August Miss Nancy.

Grace now talks mostly in sentences.  She can express her wants and needs clearly.  She loves to talk about the different things that she sees.  Her new favorite thing to spot is a school bus.

This month we had various little adventures.  We went to Ohio to see Tom and Allison( Grace's parents if anything were to happen to us) before they leave for Texas.  They are headed to Texas to be foster parents.  Maybe there will be a road trip to Texas in our future.  Tom and Allison took Grace to an awesome park.  Grace went down a two story high slide without any hesitations.  Grace also got to feed the ducks.

Aunt Nancy and Uncle Larry came over for a cookout this month too.  Uncle Larry loves to play with Grace and her doll house.

Grace is her father at heart.  She loves to clean.  She insists that she sweep the kitchen floor.  I think we just need to get her a kid size broom to be a little more effective.

Grace's new evening hangout is the couch.  She insists that someone lay with her and make sure that her legs are in the cover and then we sit back and watch Baby Praise.  The Baby Praise DVDs have sure gotten their use.  We may have to replace them for the next child.

Grace's favorite car to ride in is "mommy's car" because it has the sing along CD in it.  This month's favorite include "BINGO" (Grace calls it "name-o"), and "I'm A Little Teapot" (Grace calls it "dea-pot song").  However, I think her favorite still remains "Twinkle Twinkle."  I wonder if we could get a recording contract for her rendition, because I don't think anyone else does it quite like her.

There are only 4 more schools day left.  Grace has big plans after that.  We are looking forward to days filled with playing on the swing set, swimming, going to the splash pad, picnics in the backyard and afternoon naps.  Grace is becoming more interested in animals so her mom may have to start becoming a fan of the zoo.  My friends say I need to invest in a zoo pass.  We'll see about that.

This Fall Grace will be heading to preschool 2 days a week in the morning.  I think she is going to really like it.  Little does she know her first field trip will be riding a school bus around the parking lot!  She is in for a treat!  Don't think we are trying to make Grace a genius because we already know she is.  We really looking into this preschool and it is age-appropriate for her.  There last concern at this point is having her reading and writing before kindergarten.  They have a music class that I think Grace will enjoy the most.

That is all for this month.  Same time, same place next month on the 3rd.  For those of you reading this out there any suggestions on how often to update a blog for a 2 year old?  I mean I would love to write about Grace every month but I'm not sure if anyone else cares to read about her every month.
