August 2010

Is that an ornery face or what?  Things are on the move at the Dickmeyer house!  Grace loves life and everything about it.  This month has brought lots of new adventures.

Grace spent a lot of time at Mommy's school helping her get her classroom ready.  Grace was in charge of wiping off the desks.  She chose to use the chalkboard eraser to do so.  The desks have never sparkled so much.  After a long morning of work we did a little photo shoot.

The biggest event of the month was Grace's starting preschool.  She loves school and especially loves Mrs. Ruelle(Roy) her teacher.  Daddy takes her to school on Tuesday and Thursday morning and then Emmy comes to pick her up.  So far at school she has learned the real version of "The Wheels on the Bus" and how to sit crisscross applesauce.  Her favorite part is going outside to go down the slide.  Just today Mrs. Ruelle said that she heard Grace's sweet voice singing along and that she felt as though Grace blossomed today in class.  Let's hope  that is a good thing.  Here are a few pictures of the first day of preschool.
This week Grace was in charge of making playdough for preschool.  This was a new experience for the both of us but we succeeded and had fun while doing it.

The last event of the month was Grace's 2 year checkup.  Dr. Landrigan said that she looked like a happy, healthy 2 year old.  She was in the 90th percentile for height and weight.  The weight was my fault because I was supposed to switch off whole milk a while ago but in my defense Dr. Landrigan never told me and I ALWAYS listen to Dr. Landrigan.  Dr. Landrigan's big talk was about discipline.  He wants us to raise Grace to be a polite, kind and humble girl.  He doesn't want us to raise her as a princess who thinks she knows everything and gets everything she wants.  We are trying our best and taking his advice and suggestions seriously.

That's all for this month's edition of the Grace Gazette.  Until next month...
