November 2010

I have to say, "I love being a mom!"  I also need to say, "I love being a mom to Grace!" This little girl (she may not look little but still is to me) has a love for life.  She makes me smile everyday and those around her too.  She loves to say hello to the people she passes.

Here goes the recap of the month.

Christmas has hit the Dickmeyer house!  Grace loved putting up the Christmas tree.  Her favorite part was putting together the train from Uncle Larry.  She also liked telling her dad where he should hang the ornaments.  Now when she goes to bed she asks us to leave the door open a little so that she can look at her tree.

The biggest event of this month was the Thanksgiving Feast at preschool.  I was not able to make it because I have to save my limited sick days for doctor appointments and my maternity leave.  Rich and Emmy went in my place and let me tell you I missed out.

After the performance Grace was supposed to give Rich a book of everything she had done so far in school, however, Grace decided to share her book with Mrs. McNabb(the teaching assistant) instead of Rich.  She eventually decided to hang out with Rich and Emmy. The feast included sliced deli turkey meat, crackers, apple slices, carrots and water.

Our Thanksgiving was the best yet.  Grace loved watching the parade on TV.  She stayed in her pj's until 4pm.  We only changed out of  them then because we were going up to the hospital to visit my dad.  She and her dad played all day while I did a lot of resting/sleeping.  She and her dad made a train for Marianna and they played with her dollhouse.

Emmy got out my old sewing machine that Aunt Nancy and Uncle Larry bought me when I was a little girl.  The sewing machine looks like a real one but runs on batteries.  It does not have a needle for safety reasons but Grace loves sewing with it.  In the words of Grace she says, "I working with fabic."  She even uses pins, a needle/thread, and a pattern.  Hopefully her crafting hobby will put her through college some day.

We are looking forward to this month as Grace has begun practicing for the Angel Band at school.  The other day when Emmy picked her up from school she said, "Emmy, I'm in the Angel Band!"  No one had the heart to tell her that there were no cuts and that everyone made it.  The school gave us a CD to help Grace practice for the program.  She loves listening to it so hopefully on the day of the performance she will be up for singing.  I know that Rich and I are looking forward to the performance as this is going to be the highlight of our Christmas season.  Be sure to watch for pictures and videos next month.

I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas.  I'll see you next month on the 3rd or close to it as our famiy of 3 will quickly be becoming a family of 4.
