Heaven According to Grace….
**warning tissues will be needed**
When Papaw decided he had fought the good fight here on Earth and was ready to go home my biggest concern was not how I would handle the grieving process, but how a little girl who adored her Papaw would handle the grieving process. Many people said it would not even phase Grace, but a close friend told me that she would understand more than we would ever know.
Since Spring when Papaw went to Heaven Grace has had a lot of questions and thoughts concerning Heaven. On numerous occasions we have been blown away by her child-like faith and comprehension of Heaven.
A few days before Papaw went to Heaven we went to Dunkin’ Donuts to get him a chocolate donut and Grace of course wanted a pink donut. Then the morning after Papaw went to Heaven we stopped for a donut and Grace announced from the backseat “We don’t need to get Papaw a donut because he in Heaven today.”
G: “Momma, are there bouncy balls in Heaven?”
G: “Momma, if we get new bodies in Heaven does that mean we get new bones too?”
(One morning on the way to Miss Nancy’s)
B: “Grace did you have any dreams last night?”
G: “Yeah.” B: “What did you dream about? “
G: “I dream about Papaw in Heaven. He was eating a donut and drinking coffee with Jesus.”
G: “Momma, have you asked Jesus in your heart?”
B: “Yes, Grace I have.”
G: “That means you are going to Heaven with me!”
G: “That means you are going to Heaven with me!”
G: “Momma, does Charlie know how to talk yet?”
B: “He’s learning.”
G” I’ve got to teach him words so that he can go to Heaven with me.”
G” I’ve got to teach him words so that he can go to Heaven with me.”
(Driving home in the dark one night)
G: “Momma, look at those beautiful Christmas lights.”
after about 5 minutes of silence….
after about 5 minutes of silence….
G: “Momma, you think Jesus put Christmas lights up in Heaven this year for Papaw?”
(After visiting the cemetery one day)
G: “Momma, why do you we come to the cemetery? Papaw isn’t in the ground he’s in
Heaven.”
Grace’s child-like faith continues to make more real to those she encounters.
