17 months

17 months

Another month has come and gone. Rich and I often find ourselves wondering how Grace has grown so quickly. We sometimes just want to freeze time and keep enjoying her as she is. Grace's vocabulary continues to grow. She is definitely a vocal child. She says, "ah-din" at the table when she is finished. She says, "eat" when she is hungry, "mor peez" when she would like some more. She says "baby peez" when she wants to watch Baby Praise. She al
so has learned to say "duck" and identify a duck. Our favorite this month h
as been "doo-doo" that is for the choo-choo train around the bottom of the Christmas Tree. She loves to watch it go round and round and best of all it plays music that she can dance to.

Grace continues to love to watch Baby Praise. It has been fun to watch her watch the videos as she grows up. She is now watching them and saying what she sees on the screen or dancing. If Rich or I need to get something done and need Grace to be occupied she will give Baby Praise her undivided attention for 30 minutes. For those school teachers reading rest
assured she is only allowed 30 minutes of TV a day.

One of Rich's proudest moments of being a father happened this month. We were at Buffalo Wild Wings and Grace saw an IU flag and said "I- Woo." She is the best spotter for IU signs. She also enjoys dancing to the fight song in her cheerleader outfit. We have outgrown the cheerleading outfit but her dad got her a jersey at the game last weekend.

Grace's love for "daw-daws" continue. Emmy(Biz's mom) has made Grace doggy pajamas. Grace insists on wearing them almost every night. She also sleeps with 3 stuffed animal dogs too. I keep telling Rich that I'm not sure we are going to make it through Grace's childhood without getting her a dog. Maybe she could volunteer at the animal shelter?

This month Rich's cousin, Monica, had twins. Monica and Kurt have a boy, Spencer, who is 6 weeks older than Grace. Rich's family was in town for Thanksgiving so Grace and Spencer got to spend some time together. They enjoy making each other laugh. They were at Pizza Hut one night and one of the them would do something funny and the other would laugh. Then the other one would do something and the other would laugh. I really need to make a better effort at getting Grace over to hang out with Spencer. Grace loved seeing the new twin babies and talked about them the whole way home.

Christmas Break is coming and for the Dickmeyers that means POTTY TRAINING. I have studied up on potty training boot camp and read a blog about a mom who trained her 18-month old in 3 days. I know I could wait until summer break but I figure if Grace is informing me when she needs a diaper change then she is ready. So hopefully next month I will be writing that we are potty trained. We'll see...

From all the Dickmeyers we wish you a Merry Christmas and pray that you remember the reason we celebrate Christmas. Until next year.....
